Minor Setback this week

Last night, Jean noticed a lump under Granny's chin.  I couldn't help but notice that Granny's face seemed to be swelling back up again this week.  Her antiobiotic finished a few days ago, and the swelling increases every so slightly each day.  Just two weeks ago, this infection caused her severe dehydration and a hospital stay of 4 days.  I received some helpful tips from Aunt Lois, who had some valuable input on the issue of dehydration.  I am grateful for all the research and help that I can get!  Granny does not even remember the events from the days of dehydration or who took her to the ER.

I did not want a repeat of those scary events.  So first thing today, I took her to the hospital.  When this day began, I wasn't sure if we should go to the surgeon's office or straight to the ER.  The surgeon's office is difficult to get an appointment the same day, so I called several times in advance.  Luckily when we arrived, we didn't wait long, and another doctor in the ENT practice took a look.  He was not alarmed with her condition but was grateful we came in to avoid another visit to the ER.  He extended her broad-spectrum antibiotic another week and sent us on our way.

Granny, Baby Summer, and I stopped to shop on the way home, but later in the day she was feeling sick.  We finally picked up her antiobiotic and hope that will help her feel better quickly.  I've asked Jean to take some pictures of the swelling so we have some comparison for the doctors in the event there's any more issues after this last week of antibiotics.  For now, Granny will get to enjoy her birthday this weekend, which she happens to share with her dear friend, Kay Malony  on April 15th, tax day.  Happy Birthday Granny and Kay!

Aside from the possible infection still in her face, Granny has been doing great in other areas.  Granny's thyroid numbers were showing very hypo-thyroid, but lately she seems to be more lively.  She doesn't seem confused this week.  She's even been staying awake through most of the day now, which is a big difference.  She plays with baby here at my house for hours and has even started cleaning around Jean's house.  I asked Granny why she's interested in cleaning but not preparing her own meals and supplements.  And she frankly admitted that she doesn't want to mess anything up.  Guess we can't blame her.  With time, she will gain back more strength and hopefully feel like monitoring the details of her health.

Pictured below are Granny's great grandchildren.  These are Granddaughter Anya's fun-loving kids:
