Moving to NC

Granny spent a full month back in her house in Pennsylvania, packing and sorting through her things. It was a difficult time returning to her home after being away for a full year.  During that year, she had roof repairs at one point, and her basement flooded on another occasion.  With things moved around for the workers during her absence, she arrived with the big job of finding some of her things and then sorting and packing them up or giving them away.  A big moving job for anybody.  A huge job for someone who was barely hanging on to dear life during the past year.

But alas, with a little help from her family, she was able to get everything accomplished.  Granny is settling in with daughter Jean in Cary, NC.  Granny said her mouth still hurts where the obturator rubs on her gums, but otherwise she is doing fine.  She is still eating soft foods like soups that she does not have to chew.  Now that she is getting enough nutrition from eating, she will have her G-Tube removed the 2nd week in December.

Granny has survived her cancer, and we are delighted that she is doing so well.  She has been busy unpacking and now decorating for Christmas.  She has traveled well and even come with Jean to visit at our house.  She has been shopping and doing things she has always done, maybe not with as much gusto, but you would hardly notice.

Once Granny's stomach tube is removed this month, the only last thing I will have to report is when she has teeth again.  That will be a big event for her.  I have enjoyed writing and appreciate all the love and support from family, friends, doctors, and church.  At times we felt pretty worn down during this process, and I am particularly grateful for all the emails, visits, phone calls, and little things along the way.  Each person contributes and never once did we feel alone on this journey.  The loving calls and outreach to Granny helped her heal quickly.

Granny is shopping at Aldis with Jean.  Go Granny Go!
